Library Policies

The library opens at 7:40 and is normally open until 3:50. Students may also come to the library during their lunch period and during tutorial. In order to come during tutorial, students must come by the library and get a pass from the library.

Students may check out two books at a time. If they are doing a research project, they may get special permission to check out an additional book. Books are normally checked out for three weeks (fifteen school days). Reference books may be checked out overnight. Magazines may not be checked out.

Overdue fines are $ .05 per book per day, up to a maximum of $1.00 per book. Students who lose a book must pay the replacement cost of the book. If the book is found later, a refund will be issued. Students must also pay for damage to books, which is assessed based upon the amount of damage, usually $1.00 to $2.00 for minor damage up to the replacement cost of the book.  Students may set up a payment plan with the library if they are unable to pay the full amount at one time.

Students are expected to take care of library fines and overdue books within two weeks.  If students  remain on the overdue/fine list for longer than two weeks, they will be assigned to lunch detention until they have cleared in the library. Lists of those with fines and overdue books are distributed to the teachers regularly.
