Sweeny High School
Library Policies

The library opens at 7:30 a.m. and is normally open until 4:00 p.m.

Students may check out three books at a time.  If they are doing a research project, they may get special permission to check out an additional book.  Books are normally checked out for three weeks (15 school days).  Reference books and magazines may be checked out overnight.

Overdue fines are $.05 per book per day, up to a maximum of $1.50 per book.  Students who lose a book must pay the replacement cost of the book.  If the book is found later, a refund will be issued.  Students must also pay for damage to a book, which is assessed based upon the amount of damage, usually $1.00 to $2.00 for minor damage up to the replacement cost of the book.  Students may set up a payment plan with the library if they are unable to pay the full amount at one time.

Students are expected to take care of library fines and overdue books within two weeks.  Lists of those with fines and overdue books are distributed to the teachers every six weeks.
